Formed in Milan in 1997, Ira spent years developing their extreme metal sound in the underground. They dropped earlier releases like "Chaos Regression" in 2005 and "Dawn Of World Redemption" in 2007. Their proper full-length debut arrived in 2012 under the name "The Syndrome Of Decline". Fast forward to the present day, and they return with "Demopathy", delivering a massive dose of extreme metal for the fans.

Ira plays technical death metal inspired by early pioneers like Death, Atheist, and Cynic. The guitar work executed by Giuseppe Caruso and Christian Scorziello provides a relentless assault of angular riffs and bizarre time signatures. They throw insane musical structures around, keeping the listener constantly guessing. Alessandro Caruso batters the drums at ridiculous speeds, matching the chaotic string arrangements beat for beat.

The sound quality handles the extreme speed of the instruments perfectly. Luigi Corinto plays complicated bass lines that punch right through the heavy distortion. The vocal delivery switches between deep death growls and higher screams, adding to the extreme aggression. Everything sounds loud and fully realized. The production guarantees all instruments remain entirely audible, avoiding any weak points in the audio mix.

"Demopathy" brings a highly technical assault to the table. The constant stream of twisted riffs occasionally turns into a total blur of notes, causing some sections to lose their hook. The guitars continue to throw bizarre patterns straight at the listener during tracks like "Phobos Realm" and "Social Deathwork". The musicians in Ira play with serious aggression and extreme precision. The songwriting stays entirely focused on speed and complicated structures, giving death metal freaks a properly punishing experience.

Score: 7.5
