Ainzamkait materialized a couple of years ago under the sole command of Grymnir Der Zornige. Taking a phonetic spelling of the German word for loneliness, the project unleashed the debut album "Was Des Lebens Nicht Wert" in late 2024. That initial attack delivered a very specific brand of Teutonic extreme metal. Now operating as a duo, Grymnir recruited a drummer named Geyst Des Wüterichs to pound the kit for the second full-length studio offering, "Fluch Des Nachzehrers".

Purity Through Fire brings this second assault to the masses. The music builds on the foundation laid down by the first album. The guitars unleash hypnotic, melancholic riffing across the entire runtime. Grymnir utilizes a screaming rasp for the vocals, keeping the delivery completely clear of the usual whining depressive traps. Ethereal synths rise over the guitars, aiming for a grand, cosmic night sky.

As a headbanger looking for cool riffs, you get a ton of material to wreck your neck here. The addition of a dedicated drummer absolutely pays off. The percussion strikes with serious force, giving the music a much stronger skeleton. The guitars alternate between triumphant melodies and nocturnal darkness. The vampiric ideas mentioned in the album title bleed into the overall sound design, casting a midnight shadow over the whole thing.

The eight songs are composed in a more compact way compared to the debut. The tracklist is totally streamlined. The synths provide a massive, expansive canopy over the harsh riffs. Tracks like "Blutrausch" and "Alb Der Ewigkeit" show how the guys manage the balance between melody and aggression. The tempo changes keep the listener engaged all the way through to the final notes of "Solange Dein Herz Schlägt". This is a seriously cool black metal release. Ainzamkait delivers what you expect from a proper underground act. Some riffs sound familiar, and the ideas follow standard templates occasionally. It is a good spin, packed with awesome moments and steady aggression.

Score: 7.5
