Hailing from the frozen trenches of Iisalmi, Se, Josta Ei Puhuta has been kicking around the Finnish underground since 2007. They started out with a self-titled demo before dropping their debut "Ne, Joista Ei Puhuta" in 2010. By the time they unleashed "Musta, Kylmä, Syvä Ja Samea" through Spinefarm, they were hitting the road hard. After a long silence and a "Gehenna" rebirth in 2022, they swapped drummers and got back to business. This new monster, "Syvyyden Portit On Saatava Auki", is the fourth chapter in a career that has morphed from raw crusty death metal into something far more sinister and cold.

This record is a cold-blooded beast that doesn't care about your comfort. It kicks off with "Tulkoon Valkeus" and immediately sets a grim, frost-bitten atmosphere that stays locked in for the duration. The transition from their early punk-fueled roots into this black metal-infused nightmare is complete. The melodies aren't there to make things pretty; they exist to sharpen the edges of the riffs. Songs like "Myrsky" and "Kuolemaa Ei Ole" carry a relentless energy that feels like a blizzard hitting your face at midnight.

The key track here is definitely "Varis". It’s a mid-tempo march into the abyss that trades speed for pure, unfiltered dread. The vocals are harsh and demanding, sounding like a prophecy of something terrible coming over the horizon. There is a specific kind of Finnish gloom all over this track, making it feel like a warning of an inevitable end. The production, handled at Necromorbus Studio, keeps everything sounding lethal and sharp without losing that essential underground bite.

When you get into the meat of the album with "Pahuuden Palavat Nuolet" and the title track, you realize these guys aren't interested in trends. They play a style of metal that is rooted in the old ways but executed with a certain level of technical skill that keeps things interesting. The drumming of Jimi Myöhänen fits perfectly, providing a relentless foundation for the dual guitar assault. "Rituaali" and "Muinaiset Jumalat Kuuntelevat" keep the momentum going without any unnecessary filler or distractions.

The closing duo of "Pimeys Ja Ikuinen Yö" wraps the whole experience in a shroud of total darkness. It is an honest, aggressive representation of where Finnish death and black metal intersect in 2026. No gimmicks, no soft sections to win over the radio crowd, just a grim focus on the macabre. The songwriting is focused and the execution is lethal, proving that the years of silence only made the band more dangerous.

If you want music that sounds like a blood-soaked omen, this is it. Se, Josta Ei Puhuta has returned with an album that demands respect through sheer force and a cold, calculated atmosphere. It is a grim journey through fire and rage that leaves you wanting to watch the world burn. This is mandatory listening for anyone who prefers their metal blackened, melodic, and devoid of any hope.
