Shane Embury is best known as the longtime bassist and songwriter of Napalm Death, one of the most influential names in grindcore and extreme metal. Since joining the band in 1987, he has played a major role in shaping their sound while also taking part in numerous projects including Lock Up, Brujeria, Blood From The Soul, Dark Sky Burial, Meathook Seed and Venomous Concept. With "Bridge To Resolution", Embury steps away from the extreme metal world that made his name and explores a far more personal and introspective direction.

Written during the pandemic years, the metal master handles all stringed assaults himself to forge a path straight through the shadows of his own mind. Anyone expecting a standard blast beat bombardment will be shocked by the sonic evolution here. The eight tracks display heavy, somber devotion to old-school atmospheric goth and classic post-

punk, channeling the dark energy of Cocteau Twins, Killing Joke, and The Mission. It is a brooding, intense collection of songs where dark synthesizers intertwine with heavy guitars, bass, and layered vocal work. The material unfolds at a measured pace, giving the listener time to connect with the emotions behind the songs.

Produced from Simon Efemey gives the album depth and warmth without stripping away its emotional character. The performances are equally convincing. Besides Embury that handles all strings himself, Carl Stokes adds drumming that supports the songs effectively. The focus remains on atmosphere, songwriting and expression, and the album succeeds on its own terms and avoids sounding like a side project created merely to fill time between other commitments.

"Bridge To Resolution" is interesting coz of its honesty. The themes of identity, addiction, mental health and self-discovery are woven into the music in a natural way, giving the album genuine emotional substance. It may surprise longtime followers expecting another dose of extremity, but those willing to approach it with an open mind will find a thoughtful and engaging collection of songs. It is a brave first solo statement from Shane Embury, revealing creative depths that many metal fans may not have expected to hear.
