Gravery came out of Northern Italy in November 2023 with one clear agenda: volume, aggression, and no room for small talk. The trio, formed by vocalist Luca "Pigo" De Simone, guitarist Luca Cocconi, and bassist Francesco Marenghi, made an immediate impression with their debut EP "Everything That Is Born Must Die", recorded at MK2 Recordings Studio and produced with the help of names like Davide Billia (Hour Of Penance, Antropofagus) and mastered by Chris Whited (Bodysnatcher, Traitors). That debut landed at #18 on the NACC Top 30 Heavy Chart USA, appearing alongside acts like Lamb Of God and Fit For An Autopsy. Two subsequent singles followed, "My Own Graveyard" and "A Fetish For The Graves", keeping the band in motion before this new four-track EP arrived through Upstate Records in May 2026, with distribution handled again by Blood Blast.
"Purified In Blood" is short, cruel and made with one goal, to crush. Gravery does not waste time dressing the songs with extra decoration. The EP goes straight into downtempo deathcore built on slow stomps, deep vocals, violent tempo drops and riff patterns that are made for live damage. It is angry, heavy and primitive in the right places.
The production gives the EP a modern deathcore punch, with the guitars tuned low, the bass filling the bottom end and the vocals placed high enough to dominate the songs. Luca "Pigo" De Simone sounds savage behind the mic, using a vocal style that gives the material its main threat. The guitars from Luca Cocconi do the job with chugs, bends and ugly rhythmic attacks, while Francesco Marenghi adds more depth to the low end. The result is brutal and clear enough, without losing the dirt needed for this kind of music.
The weak side is that "Purified In Blood" stays very close to its chosen path. If someone expects variety, surprises or wider songwriting, this EP will not give much. Some parts follow familiar downtempo deathcore moves, and the formula can become predictable. The good part is that Gravery is not wasting the listener’s time. The songs are short, violent and focused, with enough force to make the EP work as a tight strike. With "Purified In Blood", Gravery delivers a strong second step after their debut.
