Ravaged By The Yeti started in 2020 as a collaboration between Swedish guitarist and vocalist Rogga Johansson, vocalist and guitarist Jonny Pettersson, and drummer Jon Skäre, with a straightforward goal of writing old school death metal wrapped around a tongue in cheek Yeti concept. Their debut album, "Apex Predator", quickly gained attention among followers of the classic Swedish death metal style, blending chainsaw guitar tones with bursts of grindcore and horror themes. After the original line-up dissolved, Johansson rebuilt the band with familiar names from the underground.

Bassist Mike Borders, known from the early years of Massacre and the band's later return, joined forces with British drummer Jon Rudin, another frequent collaborator of Johansson. The new trio stretches across three countries, although musically they remain rooted in the same old school death metal tradition that inspired the band's creation. The concept remains centered on the mythical beast roaming frozen landscapes, giving Ravaged By The Yeti a recognizable lyrical direction without turning the music into a novelty act.

"Snowbound Horror" picks up where the debut left off, although the songwriting shows a little more variety and a stronger sense of pacing. The riffs stay firmly planted in classic Swedish death metal, backed by grinding rhythms and thick grooves that never wander far from the

style's foundations. Rogga Johansson's guitar work is instantly recognizable, packed with buzzing melodies and blunt aggression, while Mike Borders locks into the songs with a bass performance that adds extra depthJon Rudin keeps the album moving with energetic drumming that shifts comfortably between blasting sections and steadier grooves. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Håkan Stuvemark at Necrotic Audio Productions, the production is powerful without sanding away the rough edges that belong in this style. dd's cover artwork fits the frozen horror concept perfectly, giving the album an appearance that reflects its lyrical focus on monstrous creatures, gore and survival in unforgiving landscapes.

Every song sticks to the band's formula, and although the album rarely surprises, it avoids becoming monotonous through small changes in tempo, memorable riff patterns and energetic performances. There are moments where some riffs resemble material heard countless times throughout the Swedish death metal scene, and a few songs blur together after repeated listens, making the second half slightly less memorable than the opening stretch. Even so, the quality rarely drops enough to become frustrating. The performances remain committed throughout, and the songs are written with enough hooks to keep the album moving at a satisfying pace.

Ravaged By The Yeti focuses on old school death metal with complete dedication, and they rarely step outside those boundaries. That approach comes with limitations, especially when several riffs echo Johansson's countless other projects. Even so, "Snowbound Horror" avoids becoming another interchangeable entry in his enormous catalogue because the chemistry between this line-up gives the material extra energy. It is an enjoyable death metal album built on sharp riffs, aggressive rhythms and an entertaining horror concept that never overshadows the music itself.
