Vertiginous is an Indonesian brutal death metal band built around Hendika Dwi Prasetyo on guitars, bass, and drums, alongside vocalist Jossi Bima. The band entered the scene in 2024 with its debut album, "Reek Of Putrefaction On Excruciating Lust," establishing a sound based on frantic blasting, guttural lows, dissonant riff clusters, and abrupt descents into crawling tempos. Hendika constructs the entire musical body, allowing the percussion and guitars to lock together with mechanical discipline. Jossi occupies the front with subterranean growls that rarely leave their lowest register. This compact lineup produces music concerned with physical destruction, mental collapse, infection, hatred, and prolonged suffering. Two years after the debut, Vertiginous returns through Comatose Music with a far more focused and carefully arranged assault.
"Incessant Affliction" contains ten songs built around relentless speed, violent rhythmic turns, and short eruptions of slower devastation. Mixed and mastered at Endless Gruesome Studio, the production places the kick drums, grinding guitars, and cavernous vocals close together, creating an oppressive sonic surface. During the fastest bursts, the bass recedes and some riff detail becomes buried beneath the percussion, though the guitars regain definition whenever the tempo drops.
Hendika plays with frightening discipline, moving from tremolo lines into abrupt chord formations and dragging cadences without wasting time on decoration. "Suffering, Misery And Slaughtering" introduces the album’s central design, while "Engraved Loathing" and "Incubated Inquietude" expose the precision buried inside the violence. Jossi’s bestial delivery reinforces the suffocating character, although its narrow range makes several vocal sections blend together. The lyrics deal with self mutilation, psychosis, torture, rot, despair, and endless inner persecution, presenting bodily horror as an extension of a diseased mind.
Across ten songs, the repeated switch between blasting velocity and deathly crawl becomes predictable, and several transitions arrive before their riffs have fully registered. The songwriting is disciplined, the performances are vicious, and the production retains enough definition to prevent the material from collapsing into shapeless noise. "Incessant Affliction" is brutal death metal stripped to nerve damage, infection, and blunt trauma, a merciless second album with genuine craft beneath its blood soaked exterior.
