Horrifier emerged in Norway in 2022 as a four-member death metal band devoted to the diseased extremity of the late 1980s and early 1990s underground. Its musical bloodline runs through Autopsy’s septic doom, Entombed’s chainsaw guitar tone, and Repulsion’s rabid speed, expressed through low growls, primitive riffs, and frantic drumming. Personal Records issued the debut album, "Horrid Resurrection," in 2023, introducing a sound built around rot, violence, and graveyard atmosphere. That album joined fast eruptions to lumbering doom, using cavernous vocals and crude guitar textures to turn a limited sonic palette into a sustained attack.
Across its early work, the band has stayed close to death metal’s decomposed end, where riff damage matters more than finesse and melody remains buried under percussion and distortion. Three years separate the debut from "Revelations Of Gore," the band’s second full-length and a broader treatment of the same primitive style. Horrifier expands its pacing and adopts a complete horror plot here, while retaining the bludgeoning character established on the first album. This remains underground death metal in method and temperament shaped around decay, blood, and blunt riff craft, without crossover dressing or studio decoration.
"Revelations Of Gore" contains nine songs, using that span for a single tale of a dying man who trades human sacrifices to a monstrous entity for extra life. Terror becomes fixation, survival turns into ritual murder, and the rising corpse count mirrors his decline as every extension of life requires another killing. Horrifier translates the plot through bursts of speed, suffocating slow sections, bludgeoning guitar lines, and drums that shift from frantic assault to funeral pacing. The cavernous vocals sink into the mix as another layer of decay, while scraped strings, ringing cymbals, a blunt low end, and the physical strike of the kit remain intact under an organic production.
Guitar detail can blur during the most crowded surges, although slower sections restore definition and precise playing with varied tempos prevents one prolonged rush of indistinct noise. Its chief flaw is predictability, since several turns arrive on cue and the debt to Autopsy and Entombed becomes too exposed across the central portion. Strong riff selection, controlled pacing, and a grim plot give the album substance beyond imitation, although a more individual guitar language would make its violence more distinct. "Revelations Of Gore" is brutal, focused, and morbid, a second album that tightens Horrifier’s approach and sustains dread across the entire running time.
