The compilation brings together twenty six independent artists for a non profit tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, with every contribution recorded specifically for this release.
The lineup covers a wide range of underground metal and rock backgrounds, from traditional heavy metal and melodic rock to thrash, doom, stoner, progressive and extreme metal. The international spread is one of the release’s main points, presenting musicians from scenes that rarely appear together on the same collection. Several of the participating names come from smaller independent circles, making the project a useful snapshot of contemporary underground activity across different countries.
"Ozzy Tribute" gathers songs from Ozzy Osbourne’s solo career, combining tracks such as "Diary Of A Madman", "Over The Mountain", "Suicide Solution", "Mama, I'm Coming Home" and "No More Tears" with less frequently covered material including "Thunder Underground", "Ghost Behind My Eyes", "Facing Hell", "Desire" and "Centre Of Eternity". The approaches vary considerably, which prevents the compilation from becoming a uniform sequence of near identical versions. Some tracks stay close to classic heavy metal, while others introduce heavier, darker, faster or more progressive elements.
The material has been assembled with a straightforward underground spirit, and the non profit format adds a practical purpose to the project, with Bandcamp income being reinvested into promotion, download codes and support for the release itself. Many congratulations to Antichrist magazine for this effort. As a tribute compilation, it offers a broad selection of Ozzy’s solo material and presents it through twenty six different musical perspectives, making the whole package considerably more varied than a standard tribute release.
