Rotten is a death metal band from western France, operating in the old school death metal tradition with a raw and primitive approach. Their sound draws from the early European and American death metal underground, with crushing guitar work, guttural vocals and morbid themes centered on decay, death and horror. The band recorded “Planets Are Only There To Host Our Cemeteries” live at the Cripple Room in 2025, giving the album a rough performance-based character that suits its underground setting.
The seven-song release presents Rotten as a band focused on direct death metal without unnecessary stylistic detours. Their lyrical imagery is deeply rooted in bodily decay, cosmic horror, disease and grotesque science fiction, reflected immediately in titles such as "Vomiting The Solar Vermin", "Putrid Stench Of The Living Membrane" and "...And The Skinner Is Born In The Emptiness Of Orion's Spiral Arm".
“Planets Are Only There To Host Our Cemeteries” comes across as a short, raw death metal release with an intentionally stripped-back production approach.
