Micke Broberg, the veteran throat behind Swedish death metal gods Unanimated, steps out of the shadows alone to summon his newest entity, Daemonium Regni. He has been dealing out extreme music for decades across various projects. His new solo path proves he possesses plenty of hellfire left in the tank. Fans of ancient blasphemy echoing the black metal glories of Bathory, Root, and Ancient Wisdom will easily connect with his sinister visions. "Daemonium Regni" is his debut offering, dripping with pure, dark intent and unholy fury.

The music slithers deep under your skin. The guitars drag the listener down into a suffocating pit of despair. Broberg stacks hypnotic, looping riffs on top of each other, creating a massive wall of doom-laden black metal. Every instrument weaves together into a dark liturgy. The entire release moves at a deliberate, imposing pace, drenching the listener in total darkness and bleak destruction. The atmosphere spreads like black lava, burning everything in its path.

The vocal performance totally dominates the mix. Broberg spits out exclusively Latin incantations, switching between aggressive, demonic roars and haunting, somber chants. Placing his voice right at the front of the production makes everything sound incredibly huge. The chanting adds a serious ceremonial terror to the black metal riffing, dragging the listener straight into the underworld.

Having Dan Swanö handle the mastering at Unisound Studios ensures the sound remains heavy, raw, and punishing. The audio strikes with lethal force. Broberg delivers the sinister goods true black metal maniacs crave. "Daemonium Regni" destroys the senses and guarantees absolute annihilation.

Score: 8.5
