Evil Warriors dragged their music straight out of the East German underground in 2007, burning their name into the black metal circuit. They released two early demos before attacking the scene with their 2011 full-length, "Expressions Of Endless Dreams". Advancing their assault with the 2018 release "Fall From Reality" through Into Endless Chaos Records and War Anthem Records, the guys kept spreading their sinister sound. Following the 2020 EP "Schattenbringer", they destroyed stages across Europe. Now, almost twenty years deep into their existence, they rise from the grave to unleash their third album, "Evil Warriors", delivering five tracks of pure hellfire.

The self-titled "Evil Warriors" album swings like a freshly forged axe, ripping through the speakers with absolute aggression. The guitars tear into flesh with freezing riffs, backed up by relentless drumming from Exesor. Beast delivers vicious vocal screams over the furious tremolo picking, twisting your mind and dragging you straight into the abyss. Adding saxophone parts throws a deranged element into the darkness, making the sonic assault completely unhinged. Fast blast beats crash violently into crushing mid-tempo sections.

The guys deliver a serious pounding over the forty-two minutes of playing time. The riffs are violent, keeping the adrenaline running high. Sometimes the song structures get a fraction predictable, causing a couple of the longer passages to stretch out a little too long before kicking back into high speed. Even with those minor dips, the sheer ferocity of the playing keeps your head banging. Alastor and Beast lock down a vicious guitar attack, slicing through the mix with extreme fury. Metnal holds down a massive low end underneath the freezing leads.

"Evil Warriors" delivers the madness black metal fanatics crave. The production is raw, dripping with dark energy and underground spirit. You get a violent musical attack played by a band that lives for extreme metal. Sacrifice your sanity, throw on your battle vest, and let the noise destroy you.

Score: 7.5
