Forming in Porto in 2024, Chaosaddiction began as a side project for Rui Alexandre before blowing up into a full-on touring machine ripping up Portuguese stages. The current lineup locks in Gaspar Ribeiro on drums, Pedro Mota on bass, and Pedro Magalhães shredding alongside on guitars. They unleashed "Kintsugi" through Mosher Records, laying down nine tracks at Golden Jack Studios with João Dourado at the helm. The whole release thrives on massive nineties-inspired aggression injected with hardcore and death metal firepower.

Listening to "Kintsugi" is basically stepping into a sweaty pit. Tracks like "Into Chaos" and "Sinto Muito" floor the gas pedal. The drums go completely off the rails, unleashing insane double bass speeds and fast hardcore energy. You get those deep, drop-tuned riffs on "Drama King" that rattle the floorboards. The vocals scream absolute anger. They deal heavily with toxic relationships and addiction, spitting that bitter reality straight into the mic.

The grooves stay massive all the way through. "Lovesick" slows things down to a crushing, neck-snapping pace, digging into the classic sludge sounds of Down and Gojira. Sudden shifts throw wild time signatures and extreme metal blasts right into your face. "Goodbye (See You In Hell)" drops a massively catchy chorus right next to intense shrieking. "Fuck You, Next" brings precise, mechanical riffs akin to Fear Factory before sinking into a grim ending. It is a pummeling ride that keeps the adrenaline pumping high.

The acoustic closer, "Someone", strips everything down to just a man and his guitar. It delivers a bleak, raw end to the album. Chaosaddiction delivers a punishing debut. The production is loud, the riffs are huge, and the rhythm section crushes everything in its path. "Kintsugi" will definitely get heads banging. Chaosaddiction drops a heavy, headbanging debut packed with nineties groove and hardcore fury. The guitars chug hard, the drums destroy, and the whole release is a pure shot of aggression.

Score: 7.8
