Bloodred has been tearing up the extreme metal underground for a long time. Formed and driven by Ron Merz handling the vocals, guitars, and bass, alongside Joris Nijenhuis smashing the drums, this duo creates totally aggressive music. They return with "Colours Of Pain", dumping an intense batch of new metal on our heads. The music stays totally rooted in extreme metal, bringing dark ideas and insane speeds straight to your stereo.
"Colours Of Pain" features eight tracks loaded with punishing mid-tempo sections and extreme blast beats. Merz writes sick riffs dealing with betrayal, societal decay, and environmental collapse. The production by Alexander Krull at Mastersound Studio gives the entire album massive sonic power. The guitars completely rip through the speakers, and the drums absolutely thunder behind the vocals. They push into atmospheric territory, throwing a dark shadow over the entire tracklist.
A major talking point is the guest appearance on "Mindvirus", where Þráinn Árni Baldvinsson from Skálmöld drops a killer guitar solo. It adds an awesome flavor to the extreme onslaught. Stefan Heilemann handled the artwork, matching the grim lyrical concepts perfectly. Bloodred keeps the momentum going at a punishing pace, blending heavy melodies with pure metal destruction.
This album is a totally solid spin for fans of the extreme underground. It delivers the goods with ripping guitars, crushing drums, and dark themes. Bloodred gives us a brutal sonic experience that absolutely warrants loud plays. The whole thing rocks hard and provides a vicious blackened death metal assault.
