Eihwar exploded onto the scene in 2023 and immediately started wrecking stages across Europe. Hailing from France, this unstoppable duo specializes in viking war trance, fusing heavy electronic beats with ancient Nordic folk instruments. They quickly conquered massive crowds at major festivals like Hellfest, Wacken Open Air, and Midgardsblot. They ignore solemn, quiet pagan atmospheres completely, focusing instead on turning the venue into an absolute sweat-drenched riot.
Their second album is titled "Hugrheim". The core concept explores a wild fantasy mythology centered around a hidden tenth world of Yggdrasil. Eihwar created a story where this unseen realm houses rowdy spirits and untamed consciousness. You get the intensely loud, festive energy of ancient warriors throwing an apocalyptic party right in the middle of the modern era.
The music relies heavily on massive, skull-rattling rhythms. Mark handles war drums, programming, and folk guitars. Asrunn brings heavy shamanic percussion and totally unhinged vocal chants. Songs like "Nauðiz" and "Freyja's Calling" deliver a relentless barrage of pounding electronic kicks mixed with ancient tagelharpa strings. The combination creates a massive tribal dancefloor weapon meant for jumping up and down until your neck snaps.
This full length delivers forty minutes of non-stop adrenaline. The formula works fantastically for moshing in a packed crowd. The tracks rely heavily on similar rhythmic patterns over and over. You get stomping beats and soaring chants continuously. Sometimes a listener might want the song structures to shift gears a little more often. The intense electronic pounding dominates the entire runtime. This guarantees an insanely wild time for anyone looking to party hard with horns in the air.
"Hugrheim" is totally built for live shows and bloody festival pits. Eihwar gives headbangers a massive reason to jump into a sweaty trance state. The chants are deafening, the percussion smashes aggressively, and the overall vibe is ridiculously entertaining. Put this on max and unleash your inner berserker.
