Toxikull started playing heavy/speed metal in Portugal back in 2016. They quickly became a recognized name in the European metal underground. They dropped "Cursed And Punished" in 2019 and followed it up with "Under The Southern Light" in 2024. A live album titled "Echoes Of The Arena" dropped in 2025 and made some serious noise on the local charts. Now, the four metalheads return with their fourth studio album, "Turbulence", released through Dying Victims Productions.
"Turbulence" spits out ten new tracks of pure steel. The music smashes together rapid-fire speed metal riffing and massive, old-school heavy metal melodies. Lex Thunder handles the vocals and guitars, bringing a serious roar to the microphone. Michael Blade delivers screaming guitar solos, while Infernando on bass and Tommy 666 on drums provide the heavy rhythm section. The band channels the true eighties spirit of bands like Judas Priest, WASP, Accept, and Manowar. It is a straight-up metal attack for true headbangers.
The album kicks off with "Midnight Fire", throwing massive riffs in your face right away. Throughout the album, the band focuses on inner struggles and the warrior spirit. The choruses are loud, designed for screaming your lungs out at a gig. Toxikull brings a scorching southern European fire to the music. The guitars constantly shred, building a furious wall of sound. A couple of tracks in the middle section bleed into the same tempo, dragging the momentum down just a fraction, keeping this from attaining a flawless grade.
Jamie Gomez Arellano took charge of the production for this release. Having previously worked with Ghost, Mayhem, Opeth, Behemoth, Angel Witch, and Moonspell, he brings a very professional touch to the mixing desk. The guitars are loud and aggressive. The drums thunder behind the vocals, keeping the energy high at all times. Everything sounds massive, ensuring the instruments smash into your brain. The audio quality makes these metal anthems sound huge.
"Turbulence" rules as an extremely fun heavy metal assault. Toxikull gives the headbangers what they crave. They drop ripping riffs and roaring vocals with no compromise. The music provides a wild ride for anyone obsessed with traditional heavy metal. The band proves they are entirely dedicated to the metal cause. Play it loud, wreck your neck, and support the underground metal scene.
