Bapthomet’s Blood started their journey in San Benedetto del Tronto, Italy, driven by a desire to unleash old-school heavy metal. Emerging with a lineup consisting of Necrovomiterror on bass and vocals, Bloodoildrinker, G.S. Philtyrant, and Nightagressor on guitars, along with S.R. Bestial Hammer pounding the drums, they established a reputation for raw speed metal. The underground scene recognized their dedication to the ancient 1980s spirit. Now, their early material returns to the forefront to remind everyone how the traditional style is executed.
This reissue of “Satanic Metal Attack” brings the raw energy of the 2006 debut back into circulation. The album offers a total of eight anthems, including a final tribute to the legendary Italian band Fingernails. Clocking in at just over thirty minutes, the music relies on fast tempos, aggressive riffs, and a continuous sonic assault. It serves as a time capsule from an era when a new wave of musicians chose to honor the foundational elements of speed and heavy metal.
“Satanic Metal Attack” runs on pure speed metal energy, loaded with savage riffing, frantic drumming, and vocals soaked in old-school evilness. The album charges ahead with the spirit of tape-trading days, when bands played fast, rough, and completely possessed by heavy metal obsession. The guitar work spits out sharp and wild leads across the whole album, while the rhythm section drives everything forward with relentless force. There is very little restraint here, and that is one of the album’s strongest points.
The production matches the music perfectly. It has that rough underground character that suits this kind of metal far more than a modern studio approach ever could. Everything sounds filthy in the proper way, without turning into an incomprehensible mess. The energy pouring out of these songs is constant, giving the album an authentic aura that many newer retro-metal acts fail to reach. Even when the songwriting sticks closely to classic speed metal formulas, the album avoids becoming stale because the band attacks every riff with real fire.
Another strong point is how naturally the record blends speed metal violence with traditional heavy metal roots. Beneath the furious pacing, there are many sections filled with old European metal spirit, especially in the guitar melodies and soloing. The Fingernails cover also fits smoothly into the album and strengthens the connection to the Italian underground tradition that inspired the band in the first place. Fans of savage early speed metal with satanic imagery and street-level aggression will easily understand why this album gained cult status over the years.
This reissue is a strong reminder of how committed Bapthomet’s Blood were to preserving the untamed side of classic metal. “Satanic Metal Attack” is raw, violent, and proudly stuck in the old days, in the best possible sense. It may not offer surprises, though the savage execution and authentic underground spirit give it enough power to stand tall among many revival-era releases. For anyone into old speed metal soaked in sulfur and steel, this album still has plenty of fire nearly twenty years later.
