A Dream Of Poe is a symphonic doom metal project founded in 2005 by Miguel Santos in Ponta Delgada (Azores, Portugal). The project has developed a substantial and consistent work, comprising four studio albums, two EPs, two live albums, one single, and one demo. Although primarily a solo project, A Dream Of Poe would not exist without the contribution of numerous musicians who, under the artistic direction of Miguel Santos, bring their own artistic voice to the project, enriching its sound and emotional depth. Musically, A Dream Of Poe blends the weight and melancholy of doom metal with rich orchestral arrangements and literary inspiration. Live performances are rare, but when they occur they are conceived as true celebrations of doom metal. Recently the project enters its most focused and mature creative phase, redefining its symphonic doom identity through loss, resilience, and monumental orchestration, where “descent itself becomes the act of creation.”

True underground resilience is forged in extreme hardship. This creation emerged from absolute ruin after a devastating fire destroyed a home, a lifetime of memories, and almost the entire initial musical compositions. Rising from literal devastation, the material had to be entirely reconstructed from absolute nothingness. This forced transformation defines the core foundation of the release. Conceptually, the music follows a dark path inspired by ancient Greek myth, the Eleusinian Mysteries, and tragic cosmology. The narrative traces a sickly character searching for relief through a ritual descent into the underworld, resulting in a confrontation with an absolute inner desert of ash and isolation, culminating in a final union through destruction.

The musical execution delivers a powerful experience for fans of true doom. The orchestral arrangements provide a grand atmosphere that complements the slow tempos and crushing riffs. The vocal performances change across the material, utilizing different singers to shape the trajectory of the descent. The guitars provide excellent solos, while the violin contributions inject a bleak classical atmosphere into the compositions. The production balances the symphonic layers with the necessary metal elements, ensuring the guitars and drums maintain their proper sonic power. It is a focused, heavy journey born from genuine destruction.
