Fireball Ministry emerged from the late 1990s underground, blending East Coast and Midwestern roots into a California melting pot. Striking a

path free of pretension, the band focused on a bottom-heavy hard rock delivery. Since 1999, they have gathered a dedicated following and shared stages with metal titans like Judas Priest, Slayer, and Motörhead. Their discography includes their 1999 debut "Ou Est La Rock?", followed by "The Second Great Awakening" in 2003, "Their Rock Is Not Our Rock" in 2005, a self-titled record in 2010, and "Remember The Story" in 2017. Originally released in 2003 through Nuclear Blast, “The Second Great Awakening” returned as part of Ripple Music’s reissue series, giving this album another shot to remind people why Fireball Ministry earned such a loyal following in heavy rock circles.

This reissue breathes new life into a landmark from 2003. "The Second Great Awakening" channels heavy, Sabbath-soaked rhythms and classic Thin Lizzy mayhem. The twin-guitar attack of James A. Rota II and Emily J. Burton lays down a barrage of pure metal riffs. Behind them, the rhythm section of Janis Tanaka and John Oreshnick drives the grooves forward. Nick Raskulinecz handled the production, capturing a raw energy that avoids modern studio tricks. The songs are straight-to-the-point heavy anthems.

The tracklist boasts high-octane anthems like "King", "The Sinner", "Master Of None", and "Daughter Of The Damned". The mid-album charge continues with "Flatline", "In The Mourning", "He Who Kills", "Rollin On", and "Choker". The final stretch features "Maidens Of Venus" and the European bonus track "Dark Descend", included on vinyl for the first time. The riffs are memorable, the vocals powerful, and the entire production sounds authentic. This is a crucial piece of stoner rock history.
