Formed by guitarist and vocalist Grigori, Teloch Vovin is a conceptual entity dedicated to occult worship, ritual workings, entropy, and death. The name itself translates to "death dragon" in Enochian, signaling a deep devotion to Samael and Satanic philosophy. Operating out of Long Island, New York, this black and death metal sect has built a dedicated underground following by sharing stages with massive names such as Black Witchery, Negative Plane, and Mortician. After self-releasing several titles and maintaining momentum through the pandemic with live streams, they return with their latest offering, utilizing a massive line-up and special guest contributions to unleash their dark arts.
"Towards The Inevitable" serves up a dark, oppressive blend of black metal mixed with heavy doses of death and doom metal. The production handled by Mike Usifer gives the guitars a crushing presence, capturing a raw energy. Songs like "The Rite Ov The Harvest Pt 1 The Rite Ov The Reaper’s Blade" and "Samael - Lord Ov The Second Death (Hymn 131)" possess a violent momentum, driven by extreme aggression and hypnotic arrangements. The vocal attack from Baba Ogun and Etu Narum is vicious, trading off throat-shredding screams over the blasting drums of Ash.
The songwriting incorporates diverse textures, such as Hebrew spoken passages by Avi Levi and a guitar solo from Sebastian Ramstedt. The second half of the release is dominated by the multi-part epic "Panzer Fist", where classical violin, viola, and cello layers recorded by Ben Karas intertwine with the metal instrumentation. This combination of classical orchestrations, ambient electronics, and traditional extreme metal creates a grim, theatrical atmosphere. It is a well-crafted release for underground maniacs who appreciate dark rituals mixed into their extreme music.
