Hailing from Norwich, UK, Consecration emerged in 2010 with a mission to forge underground metal steeped in total darkness, death, and despair. They established their grim musical foundation with the 2014 debut full-length "Ephemerality", building their underground reach step by step. Growth continued through the acclaimed sophomore effort "Fragilium" in 2019 and the widely praised third album "Cinis" in 2022, which expanded their international visibility through high-profile guest appearances and crushing festival performances. Backed by an intensely dedicated fanbase that completely cleared out their 2021 EP reissue in mere hours, the unit has consistently evolved their oppressive craft, leading straight to their latest studio creation.

This fourth full-length creation hits the underground as an absolute triumph of grim artistry. The material captures the true spirit of classic 90s British death/doom, echoing the glorious old-school sounds of early My Dying Bride (first era), Enchantment, and Decomposed. Consecration welds these vintage blueprints with a modern edge, delivering a relentless wave of melancholic atmospheres and heavy, devastating death metal passages. The songwriting exhibits immense creative growth, avoiding predictable arrangements to ensure every track contributes effectively to a dark, decadent sonic journey.

The guitar work gives “Exanimis” much of its identity. Melancholic melodies and crushing doom riffs are woven together in a natural way, creating a dark and suffocating atmosphere without losing intensity. The drumming pushes the material forward with strong rhythmic changes, while the vocals deliver a grim and desperate tone that fits the album

perfectly. Songs like “Herald Of Darkness”, “Domain Of Despair” and “Cold Grey Stone” leave a lasting impression through their bleak atmosphere and powerful songwriting, showing a band that has become more disciplined and more mature with time.

Consecration doesn’t drown everything in endless melancholy. There is anger inside these songs, there is pressure, and there are moments where the death metal influence strikes with real force. That combination gives “Exanimis” a sharper edge and stops the album from becoming too one-dimensional. The production also suits the material very well, giving enough depth to the doom passages while allowing the heavier sections to strike hard.

The tracking features magnificent guest contributions that add extra layers of authority to the final product. Massive riffs lock in perfectly with the steady rhythmic pounding, while the powerful vocal delivery radiates deep sorrow and raw intensity. The overall mix maintains a great balance, avoiding modern overproduction while retaining a sharp, cold edge that highlights the bleakness of the compositions. Fans of Evoken and Cruciamentum will find themselves deeply immersed in this massive display of extreme metal mastery. "Exanimis" proves to be a definitive milestone that steps far beyond past efforts, securing a high ranking in the global scene.
