Noosed was born into a world where rational thinking has been cast into the gutter while greed and ignorance dance in the ashes of hope. Since 2019 this Irish entity has poured its frustration into a series of EPs and compilations. They fuse a ferocious blend of crust punk, sludge and hardcore to present the unvarnished reality that they see around them every day. Grim, destructive and bleak, they face existence with gritted teeth and raised fists. With their new EP, they offer up a hard-hitting manifesto of resistance.
This EP starts with "This Country", dropping heavy chords and a stark statement before catapulting into the crust punk anger of "Drag Them Out". The simple riffs of "Fuck The Church" act as a strike against religious hypocrites, backed by instinctive drumming. "Fallout" drops into reverberating sludge, unleashing a rhythmic barrage that forces a physical reaction to fight. "Floating Coffins" attacks the vacuity of the world with fierce aggression, leading into the attitude infused "Misery". Finally, "No Return" uses crushing music to accompany a desolate narrative about drug abuse and addiction, closing the EP with an uncompromising conclusion.
The guitars possess a raw edge that pairs with the vocals. The drumming provides a relentless pace, ensuring the release maintains its momentum. The production allows the anger to come through clearly. This release holds its ground with a focused approach to crust and sludge.
