Bewitched was formed in Sweden in 1995 and carved their name through a raw blend of black metal and thrash metal, built on speed, filth, Satanic fire, and old-school riff violence. After years away from studio releases, the band returns through Osmose Productions, the same label tied to their early path, bringing “Diabolical Death Mass” as their first full-length just twenty years later.

Bewitched returns with “Diabolical Death Mass” and this album waste no time with its old-school black/thrash metal running like poisoned blood in your veins, full of savage riffing, fast attacks, and that blackened hellfire spirit that made the band known in its first era. The album has that filthy cult aura, more like a band dragging its own blade back out after years of silence.

The guitars are the main weapon here. The riffs have speed, dirt, and enough evil energy to make the album sound alive and cruel. Songs like “Diabolical Death Mass”, “Into The Fire”, “Black Spells & Unclean Spirits”, and “Enforcer Of Evil” bring that blackthrash attack with strong hooks and a mean attitude. The drumming does its job with force, the vocals spit out the lines with the right amount of hellish rage, and the whole album stays close to the classic Bewitched spirit without sounding weak or tired.

There is also a clear sense of tradition in the songwriting. “Diabolical Death Mass” is riff-based, fast, evil, and made for people who still want black/thrash metal to sound like fire, leather, spikes, and blasphemy. Some parts are more predictable than surprising, and the album rarely steps outside its chosen path, so anyone waiting for a big twist can forget it.

With “Diabolical Death Mass”, Bewitched sounds recharged and ready to burn again. A little more variety could have made the album even deadlier, since a few ideas stay close to familiar ground. Even so, this is a strong return, packed with blackened thrash fury, sharp riffs, and pure old-school evil spirit. After twenty years without a studio album, Bewitched fel the blade of hell and death.
