Iron Kobra started in Germany in 2008, coming from the underground with a taste for old heavy metal, speed metal, fantasy, sci fi and punk nerve. Their early years brought the "Cult Of The Snake" demo, the "Battlesword" EP, the debut "Dungeon Masters" and the second album "Might & Magic". After years of slower activity, lineup changes and selective shows, "Eternal Dagger" arrives as their third full length album, with Matze on bass, Björn on drums, Ela on guitars and vocals, and Steffen on guitars.
"Eternal Dagger" arrives with a heavy thud, hitting the listener with a relentless barrage of speed and power. Iron Kobra sticks to their roots, offering a collection of songs that echo the glory days of heavy metal. The production by Stefan Castevet provides a raw edge, making every riff hit with intensity. This third release shows a band committed to their craft, delivering a sound that is focused and powerful.
The songs on this release are a mix of high-speed attacks and anthemic rockers. "Trembling Dungeons" starts the assault with a rapid tempo, while "Shibuya Nights" offers a more rhythmic approach. The songwriting is stripped-down, focusing on hooks and energy. Iron Kobra manages to capture the spirit of their idols without losing their own voice. The result is a set of tracks that are high on energy and low on filler.
The guitar work is impressive, featuring a variety of riffs and leads that drive the music forward. The rhythm section provides a solid foundation, with the bass and drums working in unison to create a powerful sonic blast. The vocals are soaring and aggressive, fitting the music. "Mountains Of Madness" shows the band's range, offering a more epic scale to their sound. Every element comes together to create a satisfying heavy metal experience.
This is a strong addition to the Iron Kobra catalog. They have created an album that is honest and full of energy. "Eternal Dagger" is a must-listen for anyone who appreciates traditional heavy metal. This release proves that Iron Kobra can become a rising force in the current metal scene.
