Hoc Est Bellum emerged in 2022 between Helsinki and Turku, Finland, as a power trio devoted to grinding, bestial blackened death metal. Devouring Doommouth Of Lunar Extinction And Nuclear Propaganda handles vocals and bass, Rituäl Vömitist plays guitar, and R. Charon covers drums and additional chants. Their first release, "Demo 2023", introduced a primitive attack built around blasphemy, nuclear
destruction and human extinction. That material placed them firmly in the underground’s more extreme corner, where atmosphere matters as much as speed and brutality. "Filth Majesty" is their first full length release, issued through Time To Kill Records, and expands the demo’s approach with longer compositions, darker passages and a broader production style.
"Filth Majesty" runs on serrated riffs, frantic drumming, low bass frequencies and guttural vocals buried inside a warm, organic mix. The production has physical impact and rejects the overly edited sound common in modern extreme metal. Guitars scrape across the mix, cymbals crash with little restraint, and the vocals resemble commands shouted through smoke. The lyrics revolve around Satanism, ritual violence, decay, warfare and mankind’s destruction, giving the album a consistent lyrical direction.
The main weakness appears in the middle section, where similar tempos and riff patterns make several songs blur together. Some transitions also arrive with little preparation, reducing the impact of the slower atmospheric passages. Even so, Hoc Est Bellum maintain a convincing level of intensity, and the primitive sound never becomes shapeless. "Filth Majesty" is a competent debut with enough character to separate it from disposable war metal releases, though stronger pacing and wider riff variation would make the next album far more effective.
