Belialed formed in Germany in 2021, focusing on melodic black metal shaped by bleak atmosphere, historical imagery and mysticism. The current lineup consists of Marc Rickenberg on vocals, Daryl Grant and Dean Grant on guitars, Tim Lichte on bass and Marcel Siewert on drums. Their debut, "Beyond Resigned", arrived in late 2023 and introduced a band more interested in emotional depth and melody than raw aggression alone. Three years later, "The Echoless Chasm" presents a more developed version of that approach. The writing has greater discipline, the transitions are smoother and the melodies have more character. Belialed has grown since the debut, and the improvement is easy to hear across the album’s fifty two minutes.

"The Echoless Chasm" uses layered guitars, rapid drumming and strained vocals to create a cold, mournful atmosphere with a strong melodic centre. The production gives every instrument enough definition, especially the guitar harmonies, which guide most of the material. The vocals remain buried enough to support the atmosphere while retaining

presence, and the rhythm section adds movement during the longer passages. Lyrically, the album circles around decay, lost places, elemental imagery and spiritual emptiness, themes that suit the bleak musical direction.

Several sections stretch beyond what their ideas justify, and a tighter edit could have made the album more effective. Some melodic patterns also return too often, reducing their impact during the second half. Even with those flaws, Belialed offers a focused sophomore album with strong composition, expressive guitar work and an atmosphere that remains convincing across most of its duration. "The Echoless Chasm" marks genuine progress and places the group on firmer ground than before.
