Stench Of Sorcery is a one man castle metal project built around an original fantasy universe instead of isolated songs. After two EPs, "Unseen Battles" in 2024 and "Spellcaster" in 2025, the project reaches its first full length with "The Palegold Menace", continuing the story of Alric and the cursed Execrated Lands. The music blends groove driven death/doom with melodic passages touched by eastern scales, aiming to place atmosphere and storytelling on equal footing. The concept stretches across every release, creating an ongoing saga filled with fallen kingdoms, ancient curses, forgotten magic and creatures emerging from the darkness.

The project is ambitious in scope, placing its own mythology at the center instead of relying on familiar fantasy themes. It is easy to hear that the creator has spent time developing this world beyond the music, giving the album a continuous thread instead of presenting unrelated material. The fantasy setting remains an important element throughout, though it never completely overshadows the riffs or the songwriting. It gives the album a recognizable character without turning it into a spoken story wrapped in metal music.

"The Palegold Menace" offers nearly thirty eight minutes of groove oriented death/doom with melodic touches and a constant atmospheric layer built around its fantasy concept. The production favors a heavy guitar tone without burying the melodies, allowing the riffs and lead

work to remain audible throughout the album. Vocals lean toward a deep growl that suits the dark setting, while the rhythm section stays focused on supporting the songs instead of chasing speed or technical displays. The songwriting follows a consistent path, balancing slower passages with more energetic sections and avoiding sudden stylistic turns. The album succeeds in maintaining its own character across its running time, although some ideas return often enough that a few songs begin to resemble one another.

The melodic passages add welcome color to the heavier moments, although they rarely develop into moments that stay with the listener long after the album ends. The concept remains one of the album's biggest strengths because it gives every composition a place within a larger story instead of presenting disconnected material. Even listeners who are less interested in fantasy themes can recognize the effort invested in building a complete world around the music. At the same time, the concept cannot carry everything on its own.

The songwriting occasionally settles into comfortable patterns that limit the overall impact, especially during the middle part of the album where the momentum dips. The production stays consistent from beginning to end, without making the mix overly processed or overly raw. "The Palegold Menace" shows promise and a genuine passion for classic heavy atmosphere mixed with death/doom foundations. It is an enjoyable debut that introduces Stench Of Sorcery with a clear artistic vision and enough quality to spark interest in future releases, even if the songwriting has space to grow and reach a higher level.
