Former Casketgarden guitarist Balazs Toth launched BalashToth after relocating to Ireland in 2012, where he focused on music production and mixing while building an online presence through riff challenges, covers, gear content and production videos. What began as a YouTube channel slowly evolved into a proper recording project, leading to the "Anti-Life" EP in 2023, "=Equation=" in 2024 and the compilation "=Anti-Life/Equation=". Working with Japanese vocalist Deathmetalvoicer gave the material a stronger personality, while Toth handled the songwriting and studio duties himself. "Equation II, The Antithesis Of Life And Free Will" marks the first full-length release under the BalashToth name, continuing a concept inspired by the Anti-Life Equation and expanding ideas introduced on the earlier EPs. The album also features guest viola from Adam Toth on the closing composition, adding another color to a project that has steadily grown beyond its original online roots.

"Equation II, The Antithesis Of Life And Free Will" builds its foundation on classic melodic death metal with noticeable traces of At The Gates, Dimension Zero, The Haunted, Carcass and Dismember, though it

does not stay locked into one speed or one formula. Fast tremolo riffs, old school death metal passages and slower doom influenced moments all have a place across the album, giving each composition a different character without drifting away from the central style. The production is sharp and balanced, allowing the guitars to dominate while leaving enough space for Deathmetalvoicer's intense performance. The drums have a natural sound, the bass is present when needed, and the mix avoids artificial excess. The mathematical symbols in the song titles fit the concept without turning it into a novelty, adding another layer to an album built around psychological conflict instead of fantasy or horror.

Balazs Toth has a good ear for memorable melodic phrases, and when to change direction before a section loses impact. Fast passages create urgency, slower moments introduce darker colors, and the transitions rarely sound disconnected. The guitar work stays at the center throughout, balancing aggression with melody in a way that recalls the Swedish scene of the late 1990s without becoming a clone of it. Deathmetalvoicer adds an emotional edge through varied growls that suit the themes of despair, regret and inner conflict.

This first full-length also shows the benefit of Balazs Toth producing, mixing and mastering the material himself. Everything sounds carefully assembled without sanding away the rough edges that belong in melodic death metal. The album offers enough variation to maintain interest while staying focused on its main direction. BalashToth may operate as a solo project, though "Equation II, The Antithesis Of Life And Free Will" never comes across as limited or incomplete. It is a convincing debut album with strong riffs, thoughtful songwriting and enough memorable moments to reward repeated listens.
