Nirriti is an international band formed between India and Canada, built around Bhasma, Retas and Rakta. The band first appeared with the EP “Asuryasparsha (অসূর্যস্পর্শা)” and then withdrew for six years before preparing its first full length album. Its approach joins black metal, early grindcore and outsider noise with Hindu and Buddhist philosophical language, especially ideas linked to negation, nonorigination and the rejection of a supreme creator. They shape the titles, imagery and musical character, placing the band in an obscure corner of extreme black metal where distorted form matters as much as riffs. The 2026 lineup operates as a power trio, using a limited number of elements to create music that is severe, disorienting and deliberately closed off from ordinary song construction.
“Dhrupad Anutpada (ধ্রুপদ অনুৎপাদ): Apophatic Ragas Of Non-Origination” contains six tracks for about forty-four minutes. Martial Opium handled the mixing, while Dredged Oblivion completed the mastering. The production fuses guitar and bass into a distorted current, with the drums acting as the main source of motion and control. Reversed voices, distant vocal layers and collapsing string patterns create a claustrophobic field around the rhythm section.
Conventional riffs appear only in fragments before dissolving into noise, tremolo movement or low end vibration. The long compositions depend on recurring figures, sudden tempo changes and dissonant passages more than standard verse structures. The titles focus on sleep, existence, determinism, samsara, nirvana, impermanence and philosophical defeat, giving the album an intellectual core beneath its violent surface. Individual vocal lines remain difficult to separate, so the concept reaches the listener mainly through atmosphere, titles and the arrangements.
The tracks recover through violent rhythmic turns and short bursts of grindcore speed, giving the longer tracks enough movement to remain engaging. Its sound is distinctive, though the restricted palette makes sections blend together across the full running time. Nirriti’s debut has a focused concept, committed performances and production that preserves its primitive character. This is a corrosive, demanding album with genuine depth, held below a higher mark by its recurring methods and occasional loss of momentum.
