Ad Finem Omnia is a Chilean melodic black metal band centered on musician Pablo Vera. The band began as a duo with Ricardo Araya and issued its debut through Purity Through Fire Records in 2022. Its members entered the project after years of activity within Chilean extreme metal, so Ad Finem Omnia arrived with a mature musical outlook from its earliest phase. Following Araya’s departure, Vera assumed sole control of the band’s composition, arrangements, lyrics, guitars, bass, and vocals, with outside assistance for the drums.
The music follows a melancholic form of black metal marked by cold melodic lines, extended compositions, fast percussion, and a solemn atmosphere drawn from the 1990s school. Songcraft takes priority over low fidelity fog or shapeless aggression, giving Ad Finem Omnia a defined character that continues across “Senectus Viae.”
“Senectus Viae” is the band’s second full length, released by Purity Through Fire Records on digipack CD, spanning eight tracks and about 42 minutes. Vera
composed and arranged the music and wrote the lyrics, apart from “Abolish God,” which was written by Ricardo Araya. Araya also mixed and mastered the album at Aphelion Studios, Carlos Fuentes handled the drum sessions at Sonido Origen Studios,and Daniel Hermosilla created the cover art. The production has enough definition to separate tremolo melodies, bass movement, scorched vocals, and rapid percussion, retaining a scratched surface that prevents the album from becoming clinical or overly refined. Guitars dominate the songs through mournful leads, racing patterns, darker chord changes, and grand melodic climbs, joined by active drumming that shifts between blasts, rolling fills, and sudden accents.
The vocals sit deep in the mix, adding a human edge to the elevated guitar work. Most tracks unfold through long arcs and recurring motifs, with hooks emerging from melodic returns, changes in pace, and carefully placed surges, while the general atmosphere stays austere, passionate, and steeped in sorrow. The narrow tempo range blurs parts of the album, and several extended sequences remain attached to one melodic idea past its ideal endpoint.
When a guitar theme lacks a firm hook, the surrounding material starts to merge into one continuous shade. Those issues cap the impact, though the more focused themes reach an arresting balance of speed, melancholy, and grandeur, free from cheap sentiment and empty aggression. “Senectus Viae” is a strong second album with thoughtful arrangements, genuine emotional heat, and enough abrasion to prevent its elegance from becoming tame; its limited palette blocks entry into the upper tier, though its songwriting and atmosphere place it far above routine melodic black metal.
