Purging Iesous is the solo project of Elijah Cirricione, officially formed in 2025 in Chicago, Illinois. Cirricione handles guitar, bass, drums, vocals and lyrics, taking complete control of the recording process for the project. His background includes work with Dismalimerence and Mouth Of Sauron, giving him previous experience within the underground extreme metal scene.
With Purging Iesous, he focuses on death metal built around severe vocal work, low tuned riffing, violent rhythmic shifts and a strongly blasphemous lyrical direction. The project operates as a one man recording effort, with Cirricione writing and engineering the material in his home studio. The artwork uses an edited detail from the medieval Bible Of Holkham, originally preserved by the British Library, which reinforces the religious imagery surrounding the release.
"Atheos" is a compact three song release that packs its material into a little under fourteen minutes, with "Iconoclasm", "Contumelious" and "Abandonment" built around crushing guitar work, deep bass, forceful drumming and harsh vocals. The production, mixed and mastered by Spenser Morris, gives the instruments enough separation for the riffs and rhythmic changes to register properly, while retaining the raw atmosphere expected from this type of death metal.
The lyrical material draws heavily from biblical violence, religious corruption and profane imagery, giving the release a consistently sacrilegious focus. There is a technical edge in the guitar writing, with changes in tempo and rhythmic patterns adding movement to the short running time. "Atheos" does not waste time with unnecessary decoration, and its compact format makes the material easy to consume in one sitting. The three songs share the same sonic language, creating a focused release that stays within its chosen death metal territory. The result is an underground recording with enough musical detail to reward closer listening, while remaining firmly centered on brutality and extreme vocal delivery.
