Kickin Valentina is an Atlanta, Georgia hard rock band formed in 2013, with a career built around a direct rock n roll approach and a strong presence in the American and international scene. The band initially released music through Atlanta label Highway 9 Records before signing with Mighty Music in 2015. Their discography includes "Super Atomic", "Imaginary Creatures", "Revenge Of Rock", "Star Spangled Fist Fight" and "Raw Trax, B Sides And Bootlegs", alongside the "Chaos In Copenhagen" EP. The current lineup features D.K. Revelle on vocals, Heber Pampillon on guitar, Chris Taylor on bass and Jimmy Berdine on drums.
"Anthems From The Underground" was recorded in Atlanta, produced by Pete Newdeck, mixed at PNProductions in the UK and mastered by Harry Hess at H Bomb Mastering in Toronto. The production places the guitars, bass and drums prominently, with D.K. Revelle's vocal delivery adding the expected sleaze rock attitude. "Generation Time Bomb", "Dance Of Destruction", "Rock N Roll Casualty" and "Dog Fight" represent the tougher side of the album, while "Silver Moon", "Don't Be Mad" and "Just Like A Movie" bring more melody into the songwriting.
The songwriting is built around riffs, compact arrangements and chorus driven structures, with the album lasting close to forty minutes. There is a strong emphasis on groove throughout, particularly in the bass and guitar work, while the drums give the songs their forward movement. Pete Newdeck's production gives the material a contemporary finish without stripping away its old school hard rock foundation. "Bulletproof Sound" and "Overdose On Cloud 9" show the band's preference for big hooks and straightforward construction, while "Silver Moon" adds a more melodic shade to the sequence. The album remains firmly inside hard rock territory, with sleaze and rock n roll influences running through its sound.
