Space Chaser is a Berlin based thrash metal band formed in 2011, with four studio albums now in their history. Their first releases, "Watch The Skies!" and "Dead Sun Rising", established their name in the European thrash scene, followed by "Give Us Life" in 2021, which reached number 24 on the German album charts. Their live activity has included appearances at Wacken Open Air, Summer Breeze, Party.San and club tours across Germany and the Benelux.
Following the departure of vocalist Siegfried Rudzynski in 2023, guitarist Leo Schacht took over lead vocals alongside his guitar duties. The new line-up first appeared with "Ignite The Skies" in 2025, marking the next stage for a band that has spent more than a decade working within the European thrash circuit. Schacht handles lead vocals and rhythm guitar here, joined by Matthias Scheuerer on drums, Sebastian Kerlikowski on bass and Martin Hochsattel on lead guitar.
"Razorblade Bay" is a compact thrash metal album built on fast riffing, speed metal momentum, punk energy and a strong German thrash influence. Kreator, Sodom and Destruction are obvious historical touchstones in the musical language, while Space Chaser add their own science fiction horror themes, with subjects involving giant space creatures, violence and other material suited to the album's futuristic setting. The ten song release moves through its material with little wasted time, giving the album a focused running length of just over half an hour.
Jan Oberg recorded, mixed and mastered the album at Hidden Planet Studio in Berlin, with Andy Brings, formerly of Sodom, involved as co producer and also contributing guest vocals on "8 Minutes". The production places the guitars, drums, bass and vocals into a suitably aggressive thrash setting, with the guitar work taking a central role throughout the record. "Mind Melting Machine", "We Are The Night", "No Gods, No Dawn" and "Blade Serpents" underline the album's preference for speed, riff changes and sharp rhythmic movement, while the title track establishes the record's central attack. "The Coffin" brings the album towards its closing stretch before "Razorblade Bay (Reprise)" returns to the title theme.
The songwriting stays focused on traditional thrash structures, keeping the arrangements concise and the energy high. The science fiction imagery adds a distinct thematic layer to the music, giving the songs a recognizable setting without burying them under unnecessary detail. "Razorblade Bay" is a forceful fourth chapter in Space Chaser's discography, with enough variety inside its thrash formula to maintain interest across its short running time. The record has a strong sense of direction, an aggressive vocal approach and guitar work aimed squarely at old school thrash devotees. There are no detours into unrelated styles, the album remains committed to its chosen territory and presents it with a modern production standard.
