Bloodmother formed in 2021 by Kuolontuoja, with the aim of playing Finnish black metal stripped to its most severe elements. The band’s earlier work includes the demo “Death To All” and the EP “Soul Crusher”, both pointing toward a style centered on aggressive riffing, hostile atmospheres and shifting rhythms.

The current line up features Alhainen on vocals, Kuolontuoja and Nehethoor 1. Suuri on guitars, Poentius on bass and Infestus on drums. With “Militant Black Magic”, Bloodmother presents its first full length release through Time To Kill Records, expanding the approach heard on the earlier material into a nine track album focused on faith, death, war and satanic defiance.

“Militant Black Magic” is a compact black metal record, with most of its impact coming from the guitars and the constant rhythmic movement beneath them. The production keeps the individual parts present while retaining the raw character expected from Finnish black metal, so the riffs remain the main point of attention. Vocals are delivered with an aggressive edge, adding another layer of hostility to the material.

The lyrical themes stay firmly within death, religious decay, warfare and Satanic imagery, giving the album a grim thematic center. There is little interest in atmospheric decoration or elaborate detours, with Bloodmother concentrating on riff work and momentum. The result is a focused debut with enough variation in its rhythms to prevent the material from becoming monotonous. “Militant Black Magic” is severe, compact and uncompromising, a record that stays close to the darker side of Finnish black metal while presenting it with its own harsh personality.
