Flight Of Odin was formed in 2015 in the Washington D.C. area by vocalist and songwriter Xyra, bassist and keyboardist Andrew Cann, drummer Kenny Finger, and guitarist Mike Karagiannis. The band has developed a melodic doom metal approach with psychedelic, classical, progressive rock, and atmospheric elements. Their previous releases include "The Only Door", "Goddess In Smoke", "Tattered Cloaks Of Madness", and "Seance Of Hecate". For "I Traveled The Crooked Path", guitarist Tyler Beddow joins the lineup, adding a more technically expressive guitar presence to the band's established sound. Xyra remains the central vocal figure, using a wide four-octave range across the album, while Cann, Finger, and Beddow form the instrumental core.

"I Traveled The Crooked Path" is an expansive double album that blends melodic doom with psychedelic textures, classical piano, progressive rock arrangements, and a strong theatrical atmosphere. The production was handled by Brian Jacobs Rivera at BIAS Recording Studios, with mastering by Mike Monseur at AXIS Audio. The guitar work adds a more elaborate melodic dimension, while bass, keyboards, drums, and piano create a broad sonic palette.

The second disc also includes three remastered songs from "Goddess In Smoke", connecting the new release with an earlier chapter of the band's work. There is considerable ambition across the album, and its extended format gives the material a more immersive presentation. Some ideas require patience due to the album's scale, while the mixture of styles can make the overall experience uneven at times. "I Traveled The Crooked Path" remains an interesting and atmospheric doom metal release with enough musical detail to reward listeners who enjoy darker, progressive territory.
