Gargant is a Brazilian heavy metal band formed by vocalist Guilherme Sevens, guitarists Caio Mendonça and Leandro Carvalho, bassist Paulo Doc, and drummer Phill Drigues. The musicians have extensive experience in the Brazilian metal scene, including touring across Europe and South America, while Caio Mendonça is also involved in the production side of the band. Their music is connected to dark fantasy imagery, with influences drawn from comics, cinema, painting, architecture, and literature. “Dead Night Defiance” is their debut album, released through Fireflash Records.
“Dead Night Defiance” presents dark power metal with heavy guitar work, epic melodies, dramatic vocals, and an atmosphere shaped around fantasy and conflict. “Fallen King” reflects this approach through its story of two ruthless forces fighting for control in a kingdom consumed by evil. The album was recorded at Tellus Studio, with Caio Mendonça and Gargant handling production, mixing, and mastering. The guitars provide much of the album’s melodic character, while Guilherme Sevens adds a theatrical vocal presence that suits the darker material.
The songwriting combines classic heavy metal elements with a modern production approach, giving the debut a distinct atmosphere across its material. There is enough variation in the arrangements to prevent the songs from becoming interchangeable, while the lyrical themes remain closely tied to the album’s dark fantasy setting. Gargant presents a debut with strong musical ideas and a well-developed aesthetic, making “Dead Night Defiance” a noteworthy entry from a band with a clearly established artistic direction.
