BOCC took shape in Catalonia in 2019, three musicians building a sound out of death metal, funeral-doom slowness, sludge filth and crust punk spite. Sergio Linares on drums, Andreu Cano on bass and vocals, Emilio Casal on guitars and vocals. Everything they sing is in Catalan, and the words pull from Catalan and Barcelona history, folklore and local horrors instead of the usual extreme metal material. Their anti-fascist politics have been part of the band since day one. "Demolarium" is their second full-length, out through Night Terrors Records with tape handled by Noxious Ruin and the CD by Hecatombe Records.
Gerard Porqueres recorded, mixed and mastered the album at Heartwork Recording studio in December 2025, and the result sounds closer to a rehearsal space than a studio. Six songs, about forty-three minutes. The riffs move at funeral speed, guitars tuned into a swamp, drums hitting with a dry thud, two voices trading low growls that sit deep in the murk. Coffins, Winter and early Autopsy are somewhere in the DNA, with Eyehategod and Grief bleeding into the slower stretches.
The problem is that after the first two tracks the album settles into a single tempo and a single mood and stays there. "Escorxador" tightens things up, "Ànima D'Acer" closes on a faster punk kick, and those two moments are where the album breathes. The longer tracks stretch past the point where their ideas run out, and the raw production that gives the album its filth also flattens the details that might have held attention across nine-minute runs. Heavy, honest, and too long for what it has to say.
