Deconsekrated is an occult death metal band from southern Chile, formed in 2020 by guitarist Agorh Skullptor and later expanded into a four member lineup featuring vocalist Gül Evokator, guitarist Padaviast and drummer Rigor Mortis. Their debut EP, “Ascension In The Altar Of Condemned”, appeared in 2024 through several underground labels across different formats, helping establish the band beyond their home country. Performances alongside established names such as Master, Malevolent Creation and Morta Skuld have also connected them with the international death metal underground. Their lyrical themes revolve around death, the desecration of Christian doctrine and spiritual transformation, presented through an approach rooted in the darker traditions of extreme metal. “The Inexorable Transcendence Of Death”, released through Nuclear Winter Records, marks their second full length chapter.
“The Inexorable Transcendence Of Death” delivers eight tracks of oppressive death metal, driven by grim guitar riffs, forceful drumming and arrangements that introduce tempo changes and intricate transitions into the album’s relentless atmosphere. The songwriting draws from the old school tradition, with the extended titles and occult themes reinforcing the record’s fixation on mortality, religious desecration and spiritual corruption. Tracks such as “Drowned In The Deep Waters Of Phlegethon” and “Towards The Veil Of Heretic Plagues” reflect the album’s dark lyrical imagery, while the material as a whole places greater emphasis on sustained intensity and intricate riff construction than on melodic accessibility.
The production details remain largely undocumented in the supplied information, making it difficult to judge the recording balance or the treatment of individual instruments with precision. Deconsekrated present a grim, uncompromising take on death metal, with enough variation in the arrangements. The album’s persistent oppressive atmosphere can become monotonous across its full length, especially when the riffs and rhythmic shifts begin to follow similar patterns. It is a second album short on mercy and long on riffs, and the descent holds together to the last gate.
