Massteron is a Polish extreme metal band formed by musicians with extensive experience in the country’s underground scene. The lineup consists of M. Warmaster on guitars and vocals, Sirious on drums, and Dethonator on bass. With “Second In The Spheres”, the band makes its full length debut, drawing on the late nineties Polish blackened death metal tradition and the uncompromising approach associated with early Azarath, Inquisition and Aura Noir. Six tracks form the album, with the band pursuing an old school approach to extreme metal through live studio recordings and a performance based on the interaction between guitars, bass, drums and vocals.

“Second In The Spheres” delivers around thirty seven minutes of blackened death metal, combining aggressive riffing, forceful drumming and dark atmospheric elements. “Voice Of Fire” introduces the album’s hostile tone, while “True Midnight” develops the guitar work through shifting riffs and rhythmic changes. “Strife Eternal” maintains the attack through tightly arranged sections, and the eleven minute “Omnispherous Majesty” extends the album’s approach through longer compositional movements.

The live studio recording gives the performances an organic edge, with the production retaining the roughness associated with traditional extreme metal while keeping the instrumental interplay intact. The songwriting relies on established blackened death metal structures, with changes in tempo and riff patterns providing variation across the six tracks. “Second In The Spheres” offers a forceful debut grounded in the Polish underground tradition, although its adherence to established genre conventions limits the degree of originality in the material.
