Void Moon is a Swedish epic doom metal band formed in southern Sweden by bassist Peter Svensson. Active in the underground for more than a decade, the band has released albums such as “On The Blackest Of Nights”, “Deathwatch”, “The Autumn Throne”, “Waste Of Mind” and “Dreams Inside The Sun”. In 2025, Void Moon returned to live performances at Doom Over Vienna and made guitarist Fredrik Theander a full time member. The current line up features Marcus Rosenkvist on vocals and drums, Theander on guitars, and Svensson on bass.
“The Runes That Bind” contains three tracks of epic-doom metal shaped by slow guitar riffs, heavy rhythms and melodic passages. “Orphans Of The Sky” draws on the science fiction novel of the same name, following the story of a generation ship lost in space. The title track turns to ancestry and tradition, while “Constellation” explores the stars, history and humanity’s links with earlier generations.
Joakim Strandberg Nilsson of Dark Tranquillity adds piano to the closing track, introducing another melodic layer to the arrangement. Svensson handled production, mixing and mastering at Night Wind Studio, giving the guitars and vocals a traditional doom metal sound. The songwriting remains close to established epic-doom conventions, with limited variation across the three tracks. The short format suits the material, though the EP leaves little room for the musical ideas to develop beyond its central themes.
