Formed in Sopot in 1996 by Adam "Baal" Muraszko following his departure from Behemoth, Hell-Born began with guitarist Leszek "Les" Dzięgielewski, known for his work with Damnation. Their early releases, "Hellblast" (2001) and "The Call Of Megiddo" (2002), established their approach to death and black metal, followed by "Legacy Of The Nephilim" (2003), "Cursed Infernal Steel" (2006) and "Darkness" (2008). After a thirteen-year gap, the band returned with "Natas Liah" in 2021. The 2026 line-up features Baal Ravenlock on vocals and bass, Les on guitars and backing vocals, Diabolizer on drums, and Rambo on guitars.

"VII" contains seven tracks and 38 minutes of old-school death-black metal, with melodic passages woven into its apocalyptic atmosphere. Recorded, mixed and mastered at Crème de la Crème Studio in Tczew, the album presents a production suited to the band's aggressive approach, allowing the guitars and rhythm section to establish the dark character of the material. Tracks such as "Therion Calls", "In Scarlet And Death" and "The One With Horns" represent the album's blend of blackened aggression and melodic detail, while "Exodus (Cross The Styx)" closes the release with a title that reinforces its death metal roots. The songwriting stays within established genre territory, with the emphasis on dark riffs, forceful drumming and a bleak lyrical atmosphere. "VII" offers a straightforward continuation of Hell-Born's musical direction, with enough variation in its guitar work to prevent the seven tracks from becoming interchangeable.
