CoreLeoni was formed in 2017 by Leo Leoni, guitarist and founding member of Gotthard, with a musical direction rooted in melodic hard rock. "Generection" is the band's fourth studio album and the second to feature vocalist Eugent Bushpepa. The line-up also includes Jgor Gianola on guitar, Mila Merker on bass and Alex Motta on drums. With Leoni producing the album, the band continues its work within the hard rock tradition, drawing on the sound of classic rock while presenting a collection of original material. The Digipak CD edition also includes "Live At Hallenstadion", recorded in Zürich in July 2025, while the digital version adds "Lady Marmalade" as a bonus track.

"Generection" delivers ten tracks across approximately 39 minutes of melodic hard rock, combining prominent guitar riffs, full-bodied vocals and a rhythm section that maintains a steady pulse. The analog production gives the guitars a warm tone, with Leo Leoni and Jgor Gianola providing the main attraction through their riffs and lead work. Bushpepa's performance brings a powerful vocal range to tracks such as "Last Goodbye", "Generation Rock" and "Rock'n'Roll Rebel", while "Believe" and "I'm Afraid I'm In Love" introduce a more emotional side to the songwriting.

The lyrics explore relationships and personal struggles, supported by arrangements that balance hard rock energy with melodic choruses. Some of the songwriting follows established genre patterns, particularly in the use of predictable hooks, but the musicianship and guitar work maintain interest throughout the album. "Generection" offers a well-produced collection of classic-minded hard rock, with enough variation between its heavier tracks and more melodic moments to maintain a steady pace.
