Origin Brazil
Ereboros is a Brazilian death metal band formed in Rio de Janeiro in 2023. The four-piece features Thiago Barbosa (vocals, guitar), Juan Carlos (guitar), Paulo Doc (bass) and Victor Mendonça (drums). After extensive performances across Brazil, the band took its music abroad with tours in Mexico and Europe during 2025. Their debut full-length, "From Oblivion To The Grave", draws from the death metal tradition, combining aggressive riffing, dark atmospheres and melodic elements. The band's influences include Hypocrisy, Septicflesh, Morbid Angel, Carcass and Dissection.
"From Oblivion To The Grave" deals with suffering, anxiety, disillusionment and the struggle to find meaning in human misery. The personal nature of the lyrics gives tracks such as "The Agony Of Existence", "Dissonant Soul" and "In The Depths Of Misery" an openly confrontational tone, while "Nocturnal Paranoia" explores the darker corners of the mind. Musically, Ereboros combines crushing guitar riffs, relentless drumming and deep death metal vocals with melodic guitar work and atmospheric sections.
The self-produced material, recorded, mixed and mastered by Victor Mendonça, has a raw, forceful sound, with the guitars and drums driving most of the arrangements. The songwriting follows a fairly traditional death metal direction, with some melodic touches adding variety to the ten-track sequence. "At The Gallows Of Doom" closes the album with an extended dose of aggression, bringing its themes of suffering and despair to a fitting conclusion. "From Oblivion To The Grave" is a competent debut with a defined musical direction, although its songwriting and arrangements leave limited space for individual distinction.
