Origin Italy
Feline Melinda is an Italian melodic metal band formed in South Tyrol in 1986, with a career spanning four decades. Their music combines melodic hard rock, power metal, AOR and emotional ballads, establishing a long-standing presence in the Italian metal scene. With "Duets II", the band reunites with vocalist Doris Albenberger for a five-track EP featuring Rob Irbiz on vocals, alongside guitarists HeadMatt and Francesco Pinter. The collaboration adds a different vocal dimension to selected songs from the band's history, with Doris Albenberger contributing a pop-rock approach to the arrangements.
"Duets II" brings together melodic anthems, ballads and hard rock through five duet versions, revisiting material from different periods of Feline Melinda's career. The vocal interaction between Rob Irbiz and Doris Albenberger is central to the EP, particularly on "More Than Ever" and "Seventh Heaven", where the contrasting vocal styles add variation to the melodies. "Morning Dew" takes a more intimate direction, while "Seven Sins Seven Lies" introduces a stronger hard rock approach.
"Before The Dawn" closes the release with expressive guitar work and an emotional vocal arrangement. HeadMatt and Francesco Pinter provide melodic solos and tasteful guitar arrangements, while the production by Marco Ober and Sascha Paeth gives the material a refined sound, with balanced vocals and well-defined instrumentation. The songwriting relies heavily on accessible choruses, romantic themes and traditional melodic metal arrangements. "Duets II" is an appealing celebration of the band's musical history, although the limited number of tracks and the reliance on established material make it more of a retrospective release than a substantial new chapter.
