Eight years passed between your debut album and “Infernal Decay”. What have changed for the band during that period?
Well for sure our age changed , ahahaahh. We had some members changed but our core is the same from the beginning. For sure our maturity is obvious to the way we wrote our 2nd album.
How has the band’s songwriting process evolved since the release of your debut back in 2018?
We knew from the early recordings of “Infernal Decay” the way it should sounds and we experiment on many things for this one as like synths and symphonic stuff. You will find us more aggressive this time.
The title "Infernal Decay" suggests a dark theme; what is the overarching concept or lyrical direction of this new record?
We can say is a concept album, we are talking for the prime of the human race but also for its decay too, we have also reference from the Greek mythology. The record starts with the judgment from the “Cerberus” the guardian for the gates of the otherside which only the dead can pass and the living return to life, talking about achievements of humans but also their conflicts of interests between life and gold and we are ending it again with the journey during our death.
You worked with George Nerantzis for the production. How did his involvement help shape the final sound of the album?
George is an excellent guy and very professional to its work. We had a great collaboration and the result is stunning. One of the important reasons of the success of our record is its sound and George made it massive.
"For me is better not to follow any labels or have limits. Metal music can be combined with any other music genre and it will be good. "
"Labyrinth" features Sakis Tolis; how did this collaboration come about and what do you feel his voice brought to that specific track?
This collaboration happened cause of George Neratzis, who gave to Sakis to listen our song “Labyrinth” and he instantly liked it. Then George told him that his voice would fit great to this song, which it did absolutely. Of course is great honour to us that we have a guest with Sakis , who is one of the most iconic metal features globally and we love Rotting Christ's music so much.
Your music blends heavy, power, thrash, and doom; how do you balance these different sub-genres without losing the core identity of the band?
About doom I wouldn't say it's exists to our record, ahahahha but about the others, that's our identity that we have no limits and into our music you can explore alot things.
After being active since 1998, what keeps your motivation alive in heavy metal?
We love our music, we love what we are doing and we want to do it more frequently and more passive.
What are the biggest changes you have observed in the Greek metal scene over the last three decades?
Well its getting bigger and bigger and you can find bands which their music is for big stages and big venues. Greek metal scene today is at its best i will say.
Heavy metal today often follows trends very quickly. How difficult is it for a traditional metal band to keep its identity intact?
For me is better not to follow any labels or have limits. Metal music can be combined with any other music genre and it will be good. So many people out there, there is music for all the styles.
The album includes a remastered version of "Retaliation" as a bonus; why did you choose this specific song to revisit for this release?
“Retaliation” was supposed to be our first single from this record, but during some circumstances which caused the big delay for our release it couldn't because it went public 5 years ago. But still this song was for this record so we chose to add it as a bonus track in the end.
With the album being released, what are the band's plans for touring or festival appearances to support the new material?
We will participate to some summer fests for 2026 and from October we will start our Greek tour first and then we will plan a European.
Looking ahead, what are the long-term goals for Sense Of Fear now that the second album is officially part of your legacy?
We will keep giving to people our music to listen till we won't be able to play a note. Also bigger tours is surely our next goal and also we want to perform all around the globe. Thank you so much for the great interview. Stay Heavy!
