Papa Necrose formed in Brazil as a five-piece death metal unit ready to destroy. The guys united around a shared loathing for organized religion, specifically tearing down the Vatican's history and maneuvers. They signed to Awakening Records in 2022. After three long years of tracking and mixing at Evil Live Studios, they finally dropped their second full-length assault, "Anthropomorphy Execution".
The music initiates violently with "Fall, Die, And Break", dropping fast snare blasts and ripping thrash chugging. Bassist Eric Gusmão steps right up, providing massive lines that rumble under the guitars. Alessandro Necrose vomits his guttural vocals over the top of the frenzy. The entire rhythm section completely dominates the space and pummels your skull.
Danilo Vagner and Carlos Silva handle the six strings and trade off extremely aggressive, methodical riffs. They throw in elegant guitar solos that shred right through the distortion. You can easily hear the influence of old-school legends like Sepultura, Death and Pestilence in their brutal guitar work. James Murphy even shows up to rip a blistering guest solo on "The Thousand Yard Gaze".
Drummer Luquian Silva bashes his kit relentlessly, pushing the tracks into overdrive. He shifts the tempos constantly, moving from frantic thrash speeds to the miserable, slower pacing of bands like Obituary and Autopsy. The production keeps his cymbals and kicks extremely loud. The low end from Gusmão locks in with the drums to create a massive sonic weapon.
"Anthropomorphy Execution" brings absolute destruction to the table. Tracks like "Bleeding Social Membrane" and "Eighteen Years Awake" keep the adrenaline incredibly high. The anti-religious lyrics match the furious musical attack perfectly. The final result completely crushes everything in its path and leaves ruins behind. Dig it. You’re gonna love this.
