Exhumed formed decades ago, pioneering their own brand of gore-obsessed extreme music. Coming out of California, they built a massive following by ripping through the underground with intense speed and disgusting themes. Matt Harvey and his crew have spent years dominating the death metal scene, taking strong cues from the early days of Carcass to deliver their signature splatter sound. They have toured relentlessly, pouring blood and sweat into stages worldwide. Now, they return to deliver another massive beating to your eardrums.

"Red Asphalt" takes the listener on a lethal ride down the American highway. The album focuses heavily on fatal car crashes, twisted metal, and horrific instructional driving films from past decades. Exhumed blasts through these ten songs with extreme speed, dropping the medical themes of previous albums for vehicular manslaughter. The music crashes out of the speakers with extreme aggression, matching the violent road collisions described in the lyrics.

Matt Harvey and Sebastian Phillips deliver rapid-fire riffs and massive grooves that keep the energy running high. The guitar work shifts from incredibly fast blasting parts to slower, chunky passages that crush everything in their path. Vocally, the dual assault of Harvey and Ross Sewage delivers disgusting, flesh-ripping screams and deep growls. The vocal trade-offs hit maximum intensity on songs like "The Iron Graveyard" and "Signal Thirty", driving the horrific highway concept straight into your skull.

Behind the drum kit, Mike Hamilton attacks his massive setup with absolute precision, blasting at breakneck speeds. The rhythm section holds down a massive low end, driving tracks like "Shovelhead" forward like a speeding truck without brakes. The production on "Red Asphalt" sounds massive, capturing the raw energy of the band playing live. Everything sounds loud, maximizing the volume to rip through your stereo system.

"Red Asphalt" delivers what you want from Exhumed. High-speed deathgrind packed with horrifying road tales. "Unsafe At Any Speed" kicks off the album and the intensity simply never drops. The band brings the extreme aggression and terrifying imagery they are known for, making this a top-tier release for death metal maniacs. This is a fast, furious, and totally unhinged ride down a bloody highway.
