Born twenty years ago in the endless rain and black skies of Valdivia, Chile, Necrobeast arose to bring the raw power of old school black thrash metal to this earth. Initially unleashing their cult demo "El Despertar De La Necrobestia" in 2006, the project has spread its war cries through split releases like "Sacrilege" and "Cult Of Death" alongside Swedish thrashers Morphetik. Currently operating from the ancient city of Maastricht in the Netherlands, the entity is masterminded by Seb Kings. With a musical foundation built on the legacy of South American, German, Japanese, and Nordic metal masters, this underground force has spent two decades preparing for its ultimate strike.
The debut full-length album, "Iron Baphomet", is a total manifestation of speed and brutality. Recorded in Uppsala, Sweden, these eight tracks are built on pure old school underground worship. Released through the combined forces of Witches Brew, Approaching Conflict, and Urolig Sjel, the album presents an unrelenting onslaught. The sonic direction
was previously unleashed in digital and tape formats through the advance singles "In Communion With Satan" and "Promethean Flame", establishing a uncompromising path of extreme metal devotion.
This release possesses great strengths in its execution of traditional extremity. The material channels the spirit of bands like Sabbat, Sarcófago, and Bathory, maintaining a speed and energy that keeps the metal spirit burning hot. The songwriting focuses on proper riffing and relentless drumming, capturing the genuine South American and European underground atmosphere. The arrangements are straight to the point, avoiding unnecessary modern additions and maintaining a blistering pace that honors the roots of black/thrash.
A few aspects prevent the record from achieving absolute perfection. The extreme dedication to a specific historical template means the formulas can become familiar across the eight tracks. While the speed is relentless, some variation in tempo could help elevate the impact of individual sections. The traditional sonic presentation stays very close to established paths, meaning the tracks operate strictly within a defined comfort zone of underground metal.
Ultimately, “Iron Baphomet” is a strong release for maniacs addicted to raw black thrash metal filled with speed, darkness, and old underground spirit. Necrobeast delivers an album packed with aggression, occult atmosphere, and enough vicious riffing to satisfy fans of ancient extreme metal. It may not reach the level of the genre’s legendary classics, though it absolutely proves that Necrobeast belongs among today’s fierce underground acts carrying the black/thrash torch into 2026.
