Canadian trio Warsenal have been building their name in the underground with a fierce mix of speed metal aggression and thrash precision, always leaning toward a darker and more intense direction than many of their contemporaries. Since their early material, the band has pushed fast riffs, violent rhythms and dystopian themes into a sound that balances old-school hostility with a sharper modern attack. With drummer Zack Osiris now fully integrated into the lineup alongside Mathieu Rondeau and Francis Labine, the band sound more dangerous and focused than ever on “Endless Beginnings…”.
“Endless Beginnings…” hits with a savage level of energy and a colder atmosphere than Warsenal’s earlier releases. The album dives deep into a dystopian world ruled by the "Dawn Mowers", an elite force
controlling humanity through manipulation, religion and addiction, and that dark concept runs through the entire release without drowning the music inunnecessary excess. The songwriting is more developed this time, with longer songs allowing the band to stretch their ideas while still staying aggressive and fast-moving. Tracks like “Mass Grave Mass” and “Feeding The Wildfire” push forward with furious riffing and relentless drumming, while “Phantom Hope” and “Onward To Our Death” expand the album’s darker and heavier character.
The production by Mathieu Rondeau and Ryan Battistuzzi give the album a fierce and aggressive sound without stripping away its raw edge, while Olof Wikstrand’s mixing and mastering give enough power to every section without turning the album sterile. The sound remains violent and intense across the full runtime, matching the bleak world described in the lyrics.
“Endless Beginnings…” is easily one of Warsenal’s most complete albums so far. The band sound more mature in their songwriting, more vicious in execution and far more ambitious in atmosphere and concept, and maintains a high level of intensity throughout. For fans of aggressive speed and thrash metal with darker edges and dystopian themes, this album offers a serious dose of rage and firepower.
