Genre Thrash Metal
Origin Greece
Eternal is a four-piece thrash metal band from Athens, Greece, focused on the fast and energetic side of the genre. Their sound draws from the 1980s thrash tradition, with influences ranging from Anthrax and Megadeth to Metallica, Voivod, Havok and the Greek thrash scene. “Conspiracy Of Warheads” is their latest full-length release through Floga Records, presenting ten songs built around aggressive riffing, fast rhythms and classic thrash metal vocals. The band stays close to the genre’s core, keeping the music stripped down and centered on guitars, drums and vocals.
“Conspiracy Of Warheads” goes straight for old-school thrash metal, with fast guitar work, forceful drumming and vocals that suit the genre’s rough-edged approach. The production gives the four-piece sound enough separation for the main musical parts to come through, while retaining a raw metal character. Lyrically, the album deals with war, social tension, conflict and distorted reality, themes that suit the style and titles such as “Bloodspill”, “Fake Reality” and “No Escape”. The songwriting is compact and focused, with little interest in unnecessary detours. Eternal keeps the tempo high across much of the album, while the riffs provide the main source of variation. “Theater Of Thrash” and “Conspiracy Of Warheads” represent the record’s central direction, combining classic thrash patterns with a more contemporary Greek metal approach. It is a straightforward album for listeners who want their thrash fast, aggressive and free of excessive decoration. Dig it, get it, it’s thrash to the core and very promising band. I like a lot.
